Birthday Buddies

One of the reasons I love working at international schools around the world is the opportunity to connect with other meat-heads from all walks of life and from all corners of the globe. God has certainly blessed me over the years with friends wherever I land.

Living in Thailand is no exception. Being employed at International Community School has enabled me to get to know many fine people. I find most share the same passion for the students at our school and stand on the same foundation when it comes to worldview, values and goals.

Well, a group of friends decided to celebrate my birthday this year which turned out to be an evening of laughs and shared memories. This is the same group with whom I traveled to Cambodia last November and who, without any elaboration, understand the insanity of that trip. We just have to look at each other and say something like "V.I.P." before breaking out in laughter.

Our evening started at the Burger Factory (one of the few places in Bangkok that offer non-chain burgers) and included a Skype call to a good friend residing in Michigan this semester; Peter will be back in a few months when the next school year starts. I think it was the birthday video that reminded me how fast we can get to know one another. Check out how creative Amy and Rachael were with donuts in this video...
