International Day at TCIS

Every year in May, Taejon Christian International School hosts an outdoor fair called "International Festival". This was my first time participating at I-Fest and it didn't take long to realize this was no small event! What a wonderful opportunity to open our gates to the local community, raise money to help missionary kids attend our school and have fun in the sun at the same time.

As you can see by these photos, there was a good variety of activities and booths available to the visitor of I-Fest. I don't know the final attendance or amount raised, but I did hear we made over 600,000 won ($600) from the dunking booth alone... thanks to all those students who wanted to see their teacher get dunked =)

I-Fest offers everything from food and prize tables to activities for kids and adults, such as playing human fooseball, sumo wrestling with oversized padding and even a kissing booth =)

Part of my day was helping out at the Prize Tent which had a huge selection of prizes for winners of events, including water pistols. Needless to say, some of them ended up in the hands of the most unsuspecting people. Check out this young lady wearing a "Love in Action" shirt while toting one of the biggest water guns around! Jonathan Tam, a teacher from Toronto, was obviously unaware of the impending danger.

I met up with a good friend of mine, Sang Jo, who works in the finance department at TCIS. His job for the day was to keep track of all the money collected from the booths. I sure know how to pick my friends =)

What a wonderful way for staff, students and the local community to spend time away from the computers and text books! After spending the day together in the sun, it was great to wind down with entertainment provided by staff and students on an outdoor stage and then witness our annual fireworks display. Undoubtedly, these fireworks were visible for miles around! A perfect ending to a perfect day.
